Ekuatorial is a GeoJournalism website providing news and visualizations about oceans, forests, and other environment related issues of Indonesia. It is created in partnership with Earth Journalism Network (EJN), a project by Internews with financial support of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. For mapping features, they are supported by Mapbox and CartoDB.
Journalists and contributors are welcome to send their articles through story calls or send their story ideas to [email protected]. All article submitted must be original and previously unpublished on other media outlets. We encourage journalists and contributors to visit our website and pitch stories on environmental issues that they feel have been left behind or from a different angle. Ekuatorial reserves the rights to edit and publish articles in accordance to journalism ethics.
The maps, comprise of maps from governments, civil societies, and communities, published in Ekuatorial are free to be distributed online using Share A Map feature. The map features are supported by Mapbox and CaroDB.
This project is implemented with the generous support of Sweden through the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida). Responsibility for the content rests entirely with the creator. Sida does not necessarily share the expressed views and interpretation.
